About
For many working musicians there looms an overarching question regarding their work in the studio: how can I turn my songs into an album that is ready to face the public? This includes not only learning the proper techniques to record, mix, and master the music itself, but just as importantly how to prepare the necessary materials to accompany the audio to better the chances of it reaching the right audience. This course encourages students to consider the role of the DIY musician as not only sonic artist, but effective communicator at large. From proactively strategizing the post-production process with engineers, to pitching labels and journalists with a professional electronic press kit; these are skills that both make for successful record releases and can be applied far beyond musical contexts. Music is social, professional development as an artist goes hand-in-hand with becoming a kinder and more approachable person in day-to-day life.
